• Design and develop BIW Upper Body and Underbody components and assemblies using UG NX, focusing on parametric surface, sheet metal, and welded assembly models.
• Create and maintain associative assembly structures and Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOMs) in Teamcenter/PLM.
• Perform Digital Mock-Up (DMU) analysis, clash detection, section studies, and clearance validation to ensure design integrity and manufacturability.
• Collaborate closely with CAE teams to address DVP&R, DFMEA, crashworthiness, durability, stiffness, NVH, and safety requirements.
• Ensure designs comply with vehicle integration, regulatory requirements, quality standards, cost targets, weight optimization, and manufacturing feasibility.
• Participate actively in design reviews, technical discussions, and supplier technical evaluations to drive design improvements and harmonization.
• Manage engineering release processes, including BOM updates, configuration management, and engineering change management (ECM).
• Support tooling release activities and ensure completeness and accuracy of technical documentation.
• Liaise effectively with suppliers and manufacturing plants to resolve design, process, and build-related issues.
• Provide engineering support through prototype, pilot, launch, and post-launch phases to ensure seamless product introduction and continuous improvement.
• Lead initiatives in weight reduction, cost optimization, standardization, and design harmonization aligned with organizational goals.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality and manufacturing issues related to BIW systems.
• 6 to 12 years of experience in BIW design engineering, specifically in Upper Body and Underbody automotive components.
• Proficient in UG NX for advanced surface modeling, sheet metal design, and assembly development.
• Strong expertise in Sheet Metal Component Design, Welded Assembly Design, and vehicle packaging & integration.
• Experience with Teamcenter/PLM for EBOM management and configuration control.
• Solid understanding of DFMEA, GD&T, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Engineering Change Management (ECM) processes.
• Hands-on experience conducting DMU analysis, clash detection, and clearance validation.
• Knowledge of vehicle manufacturing processes including sheet metal stamping, spot welding, joining technologies, and welding fixture design.
• Ability to interpret and apply painting, sealing, and manufacturing feasibility requirements.
• Proven track record supporting vehicle launch activities and supplier technical reviews.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
• Willingness to work on-site at the Pune location.
