Job Description

Job Summary

Join our dynamic engineering team as an Automotive HVAC Design Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in developing innovative HVAC components for the automotive industry. Leveraging your expertise in 3D CAD modeling and plastic injection molding, you will design high-quality, manufacturable parts that enhance vehicle climate control systems. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge automotive HVAC products in a collaborative, on-site environment based in Chennai.

Key Responsibilities

• Design detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of plastic injection-molded automotive HVAC parts using CATIA V5.
• Develop part designs using constrained sketches, Boolean operations, and inner/outer methodologies to meet technical and functional requirements.
• Utilize multi-skeleton methodology to manage product structures effectively.
• Ensure HVAC part designs comply with established design standards and manufacturing constraints.
• Prepare comprehensive technical proposals and deliver engaging presentations to stakeholders.
• Conduct thorough design reviews and investigations incorporating GD&T principles and manufacturing considerations.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis to guarantee dimensional accuracy and assembly fit.
• Execute self-assessments on CAD quality and identify issues related to DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly).
• Validate packaging investigations and implement necessary design modifications to optimize space utilization.
• Manage and maintain design data within PLM systems, ensuring timely completion of tasks within budget.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in automotive HVAC part design and development.
• Proficient in CATIA V5 with strong capabilities in Part Design, Assembly Design, and 2D Drawing creation.
• Solid understanding of Automotive HVAC product knowledge and associated design challenges.
• Hands-on experience with plastic injection molding and casting processes.
• Expertise in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Demonstrated ability in DFM and DFA principles to optimize manufacturability and assembly.
• Skilled in 3D CAD modeling, Boolean operations, and multi-skeleton methodology.
• Familiarity with PLM systems for design data management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in automotive HVAC packaging investigations and design modifications.
• Knowledge of additional CAD tools or software complementary to CATIA V5.
• Exposure to cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing and quality teams.
• Certification or formal training in GD&T or automotive HVAC design standards.
