Job Description

Location: Norfolk, VA

Security Clearance: Active NATO Secret Clearance Required

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, research, and maintain information on emerging and disruptive technologies (EDTs).
  • Analyse scientific and technological developments and assess their potential military applications.
  • Evaluate technology adoption opportunities, risks, and implications for current and future operational challenges.
  • Identify defence capability gaps that could benefit from emerging technology adoption.
  • Support technology experimentation and the evaluation of innovative solutions in realistic environments.
  • Contribute research and analysis to strategic foresight, defence planning, capability development, and force development activities.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain technology research, adoption status, and knowledge-base information.
  • Coordinate with defence research organizations, academic institutions, technology stakeholders, and multinational teams.
  • Prepare analytical reports, technical assessments, and recommendations on emerging technologies.
  • Support science and technology programmes, innovation projects, and related research activities.
  • Communicate technology opportunities, risks, and adoption pathways to senior stakeholders.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology, Engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline, with relevant professional experience; equivalent extensive and progressive experience may be considered.
  • Experience researching, collecting, assembling, and interpreting scientific and technology information.
  • Knowledge of science and technology information sources, including research laboratories, academic institutions, defence ministries, and industry publications.
  • Experience assessing emerging technologies and their potential applications in military or defence environments.
  • Ability to analyse technical documentation, identify technology adoption pathways, and develop practical application scenarios.
  • Experience using office productivity tools and internet-based research methods.
  • Strong analytical, research, report-writing, and information-management skills.
