Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, identify, and catalogue emerging and disruptive technologies.
  • Analyse technology trends and assess their potential military and operational applications.
  • Support the development of technology advantage strategies, vision documents, and implementation plans.
  • Evaluate how technology initiatives can support capability development priorities and identified lines of development.
  • Prepare action plans and contribute to defining Initial Operating Capability (IOC) and Final Operating Capability (FOC).
  • Identify opportunities to address capability gaps through technology adoption and experimentation.
  • Support the establishment and development of technology-focused communities of interest.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and information exchange.
  • Prepare technical assessments, reports, progress updates, and strategic recommendations.
  • Support project managers and sponsors in aligning technology initiatives with related projects and experimentation activities.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, defence innovation, and future capability development initiatives.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline, with relevant professional experience; equivalent extensive and progressive experience may be considered.
  • Experience researching, collecting, organizing, and interpreting scientific and technology information.
  • Knowledge of technology information sources, including defence research laboratories, academic institutions, industry publications, and government organizations.
  • Experience assessing emerging technologies and their potential military and strategic applications.
  • Ability to analyse technical documentation, identify technology adoption pathways, and develop practical recommendations.
  • Experience supporting strategic planning, technology roadmaps, action plans, or capability development activities.
  • Strong analytical, research, report-writing, and information-management skills.
